AS PART of the Year of the Arts celebrations, which are being held to mark the silver jubilee of the National Arts Council of Zambia (NAC), the Kings of Comedy will be returning to the stage for a one-night only show at Mulungushi International Conference Centre in Lusaka next month.
But the date, May 10, coincides with the opening night for Gift Muneka’s play, The Forbidden Ground, at the Lusaka Playhouse.
Some theatre enthusiasts and Gift herself had expressed concern over the date arguing that attendance at the opening night of the play will be affected by the comedy show at Mulungushi which will feature Bob Nkosha (Dorica), Joseph Simukonda (Ba Monde), Patrick Salubusa (Sauloshi), Aubrey Luo (Shimumbi) and Isaac Chamba (Chakamba Chinyanta).
The Forbidden Ground, is an adaptation of Norwegian playwright Henrik Ibsen’s play A Doll’s House, and features Gift herself, Eric Kasomo Jr and MacLean Phiri among others.
