With an anticipation of seeing the performance of South African DJs, Black Motion and Caiiro as well as Zambia’s song bird, Salma Sky among others, various personalities showed up at the Quorum Hotel in Lusaka on Saturday, 8th October, 2022 over some Beefeater Gin, which goes under the campaign and platform dubbed, ‘the Spirit of London’.
The Gin which was being served as cocktails, shots and by the bottle helped keep the audience going. The audience was mainly made up of invited guests and those who got tickets by buying a bottle of the Gin online, prior to the event. Whether it was the Gin working or not, they could easily be seen singing and dancing along to the music selection and mixes by the rotating DJs of the night.
Salma Sky officially opened the stage up with a performance of songs from her catalogue over the years. This was before Lady K came on to build on to the momentum created for the crowd. She was followed by DJ Switcher, who was recently playing in Malawi alongside Yo Maps, before DJ Ms. Selfie took up the decks to keep the energy going for the Gin and music lovers in the crowd.
After a series of Amapiano and deep House music, DJ Switcher came back on to live up to his name by ‘switching things up’ to some Zambian music and Afro beat sounds. This could have been the much needed break that eased South Africa’s DJ’s Caiiro and later Black Motion into their set of more Amapiano and House music. The international acts played alongside side some live drum music.
Zambia’s DJ Shooter took over from the South African DJs to help wind down the night of good music, tasty food and great Gin, leaving the audience looking forward to the next event.
